Yacht charter in Bali: how it works
A sunset dinner on deck, the Nusa islands, a party with a DJ or a multi-day voyage: the ways to spend time at sea in Bali, when to go and what to bring.
A yacht is the easiest way to see a different side of Bali: no traffic, no crowded beaches, just the ocean all around. Here are the formats on offer, how to pick your timing and what to know before you set sail.
Formats: from a sunset to a multi-day voyage
Sunset dinner on deck. A short trip of a few hours: drinks, dinner and the sun going down over the ocean. Perfect for a date, a proposal or a calm evening with friends.
Bay-hopping. A day at sea with stops to swim and snorkel. The favourite destinations are Nusa Penida, Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Ceningan, with turquoise bays and dramatic cliffs. Off Nusa Penida you may see manta rays, which stay along the coast all year round.
A party on board. A DJ, music and a celebration on the bow: a birthday, a hen party or simply a big group day out.
A multi-day voyage. Several days on board, nights in the cabins and passages between islands. Longer routes can go as far as Thailand.

Which yacht to choose
Much depends on the size of your group and the format. Our fleet:
- Bhavana: a 48 m phinisi built in 2025, where Indonesian heritage meets modern comfort.
- Adastra: a 42.5 m high-performance motor yacht designed by John Shuttleworth.
- Kayra: a 38 m wellness yacht with a spa on board.
The phinisi is Indonesia’s traditional sailing ship. UNESCO lists the art of building them in South Sulawesi as Intangible Cultural Heritage. Today phinisi are built as luxury yachts that keep the two-masted silhouette and timber decks.
Every yacht sails with a captain and crew, and we agree the menu, music and stops when you book.
When to go
Bali has two seasons. April to October is the dry season: sunny, with a usually calmer sea. November to March is the rainy season: showers are mostly short, but the swell can be stronger. You can sail all year round, and the captain sets the final route by the weather on the day.
What to bring
- Sunscreen, ideally reef-safe, a hat and sunglasses.
- Swimwear and a light change of clothes.
- A thin layer for the evening: it gets cooler on the water after sunset.
- Something for seasickness if you are prone to it.
- A camera, or your phone in a waterproof case.
